Spacelabs Healthcare Inducted into Space Technology Hall of Fame

SNOQUALMIE, Wash.–()–Spacelabs Healthcare (the “Company”), a global developer and manufacturer of patient monitoring and diagnostic cardiology solutions, today announced that the Company has been inducted into the Space Technology Hall of Fame for its pioneering remote health monitoring technology for NASA astronauts.

“The medical telemetry that Spacelabs originally developed to bridge the distance of space now protects caregivers in hospitals throughout the world, especially today as we confront the challenges of COVID-19,” said Spacelabs President Shalabh Chandra. “Remote monitoring gets critical data to caregiver teams wherever they are and minimizes unnecessary physical contact.”

The Colorado Springs-based Space Foundation conducted an induction ceremony today as part its events celebrating World Space Week. Space Foundation CEO Tom Zelibor noted, “Our class of 2020 inductees are no strangers to transforming and adapting to achieve success. Each of them has taken an existing space technology and adapted it to address everyday needs on Earth, and serves us on our best days, as well as our most challenging.”

Chandra sees a direct connection between the Company’s original mission and the decades of innovations that Spacelabs has introduced to the market since the Company’s founding in 1958. “These innovations might not be possible were it not for the moonshot dream and the collective efforts that followed,” said Chandra. “It’s a lesson that continues to inspire all of us at Spacelabs, which is why this recognition by the Space Foundation means so much to us.”
