MIDDLETON, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–BioTeam, Inc., a research computing consultancy specializing in life sciences, has promoted Dr. Ari Berman, Ph.D., to Chief Executive Officer. In his new role, Dr. Berman will expand the company’s reach into the scientific and business communities, helping to bring innovative solutions to leading life sciences organizations by solving the most challenging scientific computational problems of the day.
“BioTeam is growing, and I presented Ari to the Board as the best choice for CEO because of his combination of scientific research, technology expertise, and business background,” said Stan Gloss, BioTeam founding partner. “He’s a trained scientist that understands the needs of science and how it intersects with technology.”
Mr. Gloss, who founded BioTeam 17 years ago, will assume the new role of Chief Marketing Officer. His responsibilities will be the branding and marketing of BioTeam as well as working on a smooth transition with Dr. Berman.
Since joining BioTeam, Dr. Berman has worked to increase the company’s impact on science by taking on larger problems and guiding its consulting team towards more collaborative approaches in their service delivery. After growing its Federal Government footprint, Ari was promoted to VP of Consulting in 2016 to apply what was learned with the Government to other industries. Dr. Berman’s primary goal as a BioTeam staff member has always been to positively impact the scientific computing capabilities of the world’s biomedical sciences industry. That will continue to be his goal as CEO.
“I am honored and incredibly excited to be taking on my new role at BioTeam,” said Berman. “Biomedical and life sciences research is entering a transition from the information age to the analytics age. The industry’s explosion in data generation has led to high-performance computing (HPC) being a core research requirement in nearly all modern research programs. New and more efficient applications are being developed, and data has taken center-stage in biomedicine’s discovery process. As BioTeam’s new CEO, I will focus even more on the science that we support, and will continue to utilize innovative technology to assist the scientific organizations we serve.”
Dr. Berman holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in Molecular Biology with a concentration in Neuroscience and Bioinformatics. After earning his degree, he did postdoctoral fellowships at the University of California San Francisco and the Buck Institute for Research on Aging.
